A power generation system that uses the photovoltaic effect of solar cells to convert solar radiation into electrical energy directly. We call it solar power system.
On the daytime, under the sunshine, the solar panel generate a certain electromotive force, and the solar cell square array is formed through the series and parallel connection of the solar panel, so that the voltage can meet the requirements of the system input voltage. Then, via the function of controller, the battery will be charged , and convert to the electric energy saving in battery. At night, the battery provides power for the inverter, and via the inverter, the DC power will be changed to AC power to drive the electrical appliance.
Components of a solar system
1.Solar Panel
The solar panel is the main part of the solar power system. The function of the solar panel is to convert the solar energy to electrical energy, and then output the direct current and store it in the battery. The solar panel is one of the most important part in the solar power system.
2. Controller
The use of single-chip microcomputer and special software realizes intelligent control, with automatic control such as over-charge, over-discharge, electronic short circuit, overload protection, and unique anti-reverse connection protection, it will ensure insurance won’t be damaged and burned.
Most of controller is built in the solar charge inverter box.
3. Battery
The widely used solar batteries are mainly: lead-acid batteries, gel batteries, and Lithium batteries, these types of batteries, because of their inherent free maintenance characteristics and the characteristics of less pollution to the environment, are very suitable to use in a solar power systems.
4. Inverter
The output of solar energy is normally lower, 12VDC, 24VDC, 48VDC. In order to suitable for 220VAC or 110VAC electrical appliances, we must convert the DC power to AC power, so a DC-AC inverter is required.Normally, the inverter is together with the controller.
So how should we configure a solar system?
Two factors we should think about, the total rated power of all electrical appliances, and the total electrical you use a day. The first one decide how many watt inverter we will use, and the second one will decide how many solar panel and battery we need.
For example, if the total rated power of your electrical appliances is 1kw, including all lamps, refrigerator, air conditioner, washing machine, fan,Etc. then you can choose a 1.5kw solar power system, the 1.5kw solar power system price is acceptable for a common family, and is very suitable for family use.
